Browsing the Music

And another music player witch seeks our attention. With Musicovery you can browse through millions of songs. So far nothing new…. Specifying your mood between energetic and calm and between dark and positive you get a great offer of music from 18 categories. And even more details like the tempo and the “Dancing-Factor” can be specified by the user. Similar artist and tracks are visualised in a quite expressive way. Once you made a few clicks, an imposing string pops up where all the intepreters and the tracks are arranged shaped like flowers in a twisty line. The colors display the genre intuitively. So you can literally move hand over hand along the musical plant. Musicovery sees itself as a personalized web radio and is a real alternative to Pandora (only available in the USA) when people want to assemble their program or just explore new music.
Not Surprisingly, the trommsdorff + drüner delicious analysis shows that Musicovery has a great popularity compared to other web radios. The graph below points out Musicovery has been tagged more than 1,000 times with the tag “webradio” by all delicious users.

Evidently the business-model is the transaction. Under every title are the logos of the big shopping giants ready to be clicked and waiting for potential music consumers. To prevent people from (illegally) recording the songsmusicovery just plays the tracks in modest 32bit quality.
For me Musicovery is a perfect tool to get to know new artists. Whenever I´m about to look for new interpreters I play tarzan in the garden of bits.
